Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj): Astrological Rules & Identifying Genuine Stones

Yellow Sapphire, known as Pushparaga or Pukhraj in Sanskrit, is the primary gemstone associated with Brihaspati (Jupiter), the great benefic teacher in Vedic astrology. Jupiter oversees higher education, progeny, wealth, and spiritual wisdom.

Who Benefits Most from Pukhraj?

Pukhraj is singularly auspicious for ascendants ruled by Jupiter—Sagittarius (Dhanu) and Pisces (Meena)—as well as favorable planetary placements for Aries, Leo, and Scorpio lagnas.

How to Differentiate Natural Ceylon Pukhraj from Synthetic Glass

True natural yellow sapphires display delicate microscopic feather inclusions and two-phase growth lines under a gemological microscope. Synthetic or glass-filled stones appear artificially glassy with gas bubbles. Always insist on a reputed government-registered laboratory certificate with specific gravity (4.00) and refractive index (1.76 - 1.77) verification.
